Post your tanks and Fauna if you have a tank or two. I currently have a 30 gal holding 2 Bichirs (one Nigerian and 1 Ornate), 1 true albino Plecostomus, 1 clown loach, 1 angelicus botia, 1 yoyo botia, 1 striata botia, a bumblebee catfish, an upside-down catfish, 1 panda cory catfish, and a tire track eel.

I have a 10 gal tank that's been going for about a year now. I've not cleaned it/changed water since I got it running...

I have right now 3 zebra danio's, 3 grey cory cat's and two something ferns. Used to have 2 chinese algae eaters, but they literally disappeared. And the one fern I bought from petland and it had a few hidden snails in it... Now I cannot get rid of the pests.

The tank is VERY clear, i've only had to change an ammonia remover once in the year time span. And obviously had to add water because it evaporates out.

I can get pictures soon. I would like to add a new fish or two some time to brighten things up a bit.

Loaches will fix your snail problem. I'm currenty in a snail crisis and my Yoyo botia has cleaned out almost 75% of them in less than a week.

I need to find a VERY young loach, as they're aggressive and I don't want the danio's and loach to fight, or the loach to mess with the mellow and nice cory cats.

Yes, that is true. they are fin nippers. Another alternative is to drop a few pieces of cucumber into your tank at night. in the morning they will be covered with snails so just remove 'em and throw them away. You may have to do it a few nights in a row until the snail population decreases. a couple of snails is actually a good thing. they eat the leftover food that the fish cant get to.

its true. They help keep the tank clean. But a couple is fine, they reproduce worse than bunnies though.

Do you have any other special food for your loach, or more what I'm asking, would I need any special food for the loach or would it eat the same food that the danio's and cats eat?

I feed mine mainly freeze-dried dried bloodworms. He'll much on the algae wafers that i feed my pleco with and even the krill if my bichirs dont get to it first lol. they make quite a loud clicking noise when they eat.

I have two aquariums. One is a 40 gallon community tank. It has guppies, goldfish, painted glass, etc...I keep that one for my daughter to enjoy....Then I have a 100 gallon freshwater aggressive tank. It has a jack Dempsy, an oscar, a red devil and two clown knives. that tank goes through about 100 feeder fish a week, as well as cichlid pettets

Clicking noise? I bet that freaked you out at first?

I had the opportunity for two tanks, one 50 gal and another 60 gallon with EVERYTHING for like fifty bucks... But don't have a "good" (interior wall with no direct sunlight any time of day) place to put it right now and had to pass. I really would have liked to turn that 10 gal tank into a tank for a puffer.

Fish! Cool!

I jut got a ten gallon tak eto replace the goldfish bowl.

Yes, I have goldfish.

My daughter won them at the carnival (two of them) and my wife when she came home placed them in an old goldfish bowl we had laying around.

Cottoncandy and lollipop were dead within an hour. My daughter had names for them before we left the carnival.

So, I had to go get some "medicine" to cure them. READ: drive the clerk at petmart loopy trying to find identical goldfish in a tank with a gazillion feeder fish.

Now, repeat the above event one-more-time.

More medicine, and more of the pissed off petsmart fish specialist.

Take three .... again. NO!!!

Tis time I bought a ten gallon tank, a filter, gravel, proper food. THEN the next gen fish.

Now cottoncandy and lollipop (third generation) are doing fine.

Oh, and now I have been banned from petsmart.

Great story, Adam, I have similar experiences with guppies at my grandparents... Grandma told me they swam under the rocks to sleep for a while.

how long have you had your ten gallon up?

It has been a month now. Thank Garrett.

I just bought an albino cat and one of the chinese alge eaters for the tank. The kids love them. My daughters feed them, talk to them, "try" to train them. Best $0.43 per pet I ever spent.

I would love a large, salt water tank. I just dont need one more task to do weekly/monthly/etc ....

This was a great thread on somone's part.  Grin
