because it is the only other high perfromance car currently produced in Japan...

It is like comparing
Audi R8 vs Porsche 911...
Lamborgini Gallardo vs Ferrari 430
Corvette vs Viper

Where does everyone get off comparing this to the GT-R?

everyone is comparing it to the GT-R because Lexus even said themselves that they were building this to compete with the GT-R. therefore, it will be compared to the GT-R because it is direct competition for it.

Nagma, you do realize that this car is still in development stages right? just because its been put out into the public, doesn't mean the car is ready. we won't be seeing these on the road until late next year. there's many other cars out there that suffered from the same problems you just listed that were still in the development stages. many other prototypes have suffered WAY worse problems also.

ok can i get one thing cleared up please?  this this the same car that the rumor mill was calling the new mk5 supra about 18 months ago isn't it?

and another thing yes it probebly will have a shit load of safety and nanny feachers but so what? i doubt many if indeed any body on this website could afford to buy one anyways so the arguing about what it may and may not have is a mute point imo.

another thing is i am kinda surprised at is the mention of them loosing money by selling it at 375k but it isnt the first time a company done that. anyone remember a small car made by vw called the bugatti vayron? what was it supposed to cost them GB£3m to make each car and sold it for GB£800k.  so although it shocks me after reading the retail figure it's not unusual for companies to do itand unfortunatly explains the limited numbers

^ Yeah, this was the car that those rumors were about but, it turned out to be something completely different.

This is cool!

this car might be an engineering excersize for Toyota, but it is NOWHERE close to what the Veyron was. this is one extraordinary car. this and the FT-86 are going to breathe new life into ToMoCo. these 2 cars are bringing the Toyota excitement back with a vengeance. now its upto Nissan and Honda to show us what they have to fight back, because it seems the GT-R might become inferior to the LF-A. even if Nissan builds a more hardcore GT-R, they might be a little late when the suspected more hardcore LF-A comes out.

Nissan needs to bring back the Silvia or bring in a successor to the Silvia to compete with the new FT-86. Honda really needs to think twice about going back into the NSX-successor project.

ok man obviously my last post requires a small bit of clarification. using the example of the veyron i was in noway compairing it to the LF-A. i was mearly using as an example from the recent past of how manifacturies build limited run cars for a lot more than they sell them.

i agree that this and the FT-86 are going to have a large bearing on ToMoCo's direction in the near future and also agree that the LF-A's release is creating a lot of hype for the brand even here. i'm interested to see what honda's answer will be (if there even is one). new silvia sounds good. i like the silvia's. if it wasn't for the fact i need a 4 door car for family reasons i'd have an s14.

no, no, i wasn't responding to you. i was just using the Veyron as an example because itself was an "engineering excercize" for what VW could do with such a car. Toyota has said that the LF-A is an engineering excercize.
