There should not be any air present in functioning cooling system.

To answer that headlight question I notice a lot of new cars are coming out with "intelligent" lighting. This video can explain it better than I ever could, No idea if the Chrysler has a similar feature though.

My Supra made the same noise on cold starts, was an air pocket in the cooling system.

A Civic caught my eye today but it turned out to be automatic. Fortunately it was a Subaru dealership and they had a lot of other interesting things to look at. Of course the lightly used 2011 Impreza WRX STI is tempting but I just can't have something like that for daily use.

Looking at newer Civic SI's now, very interested. I plan on keeping my beater 82 Toyota 4wd Pickup insured to satisfy my 4wd addiction and to keep the car nice as I will be sharing it with my lady friend.

I was close to buying a brand new Tacoma but it makes no sense to have a nicer one than I already have, its hard to keep it in good shape when you use it off road and work in a filthy environment. Bums me out to see my cheap used one degrade over time, a new one would bum me out even more I think..

Very nice. I need a good road trip soon.

Here's one of my favourite drives, to a nice place.

I was buying a 1991 Toyota 4wd pickup, it was "mint" looked decent in the pictures but it was a 3 hour drive away. I asked my dad if he would come with because I need a second driver to get both vehicles home, so we leave. About 2 hours into the drive I get a phone call from the seller, "Bad news, the truck won't stay running but I think I can fix it, you can still come look if you want but I wouldn't drive it anywhere"..

Long story short we had lunch and headed home instead.

Lithium grease will work I bought some in an aerosol can, works great.

I will have one in the near future, looked at both the BRZ and FRS, I am leaning towards the BRZ. Have some other goals to reach before I get into a new car though.

Very nice. I want one badly but, not at this point in my life. Need to at least have a driveway to park it in.

CR-Z gets better mileage than what is posted, I guarantee it.

Being in CA, however, the Subaru is the way to go.

Lots of rain, little snow, very mild climate really. There is thousands of kilometers of gravel logging roads to explore though, a Subaru is pretty much the best thing for that, really want one.. the dealership that has it is a 10 minute walk from my place.

Heck yeah, nice choice.  And, it even has AWD.

I'm a bit confused, they just raised the price on it?

Was $17,8XX now its $19,915

This is more like it...

I can afford it, it has everything I need. Not much a fan of boxer engines but with this little mileage I can't really go wrong. Is it ever bland though...

I like the Honda CR-Z 6spd manual. It comes with everything I want, it has more interior room than my current vehicle so no problem there, rear seat folds flat for a ton of cargo room (dogs). There's a used one with only 15,000km on it for $16,900. Excellent fuel economy because its a stupid hybrid.

What bothers me, the front looks great, the side view looks great, even the interior looks great. But the rear of the car.. wtf? The other thing is, a Skyactiv Mazda 3 has more power, better fuel economy, better looking and has way more room.

The Mazda 3 is a car I would really like to have. Buying a lightly used one is definitely an option.

That's a great deal.. I will have to look more into it.

I'm favouring a lightly used car now as I save the taxes with my trade in, about $2280 on this particular car. Essentially adds some value to my trade in which makes me feel a bit better..
15  The Auto Lounge . . . / General Automotive Discussion / Hatch's on: May 27, 2013, 03:56:42 PM
My girlfriend and I have been pondering a new or lightly used small car to share between us. We need something basic, safe and reliable for the next 5 years or so that will hopefully have some value when it comes time to get back into another 4wd pickup (hopefully a new Tacoma is out by then).

So far I'm interested in the Fiesta 5dr, 5spd manual. I like the styling, I like the interior, I like the standard equipment. Seems like something that could entertain my enthusiast mind for a while, cleaning up the engine bay would be my first project as its pretty much repulsive in stock form. The Honda Fit was my first choice but its pricey, and I really don't like the van like appearance.

What would you suggest and why? Ive looked at all of the cars in this class, few stand out.

Fit, Fiesta, SX4 and Yaris interest me the most, my trade in value is right around $10,000 but that doesn't mean I'm going to spend more than I can afford.
